The Monteverde to San Jose Shared Shuttle takes between 4 and 4.5 hours.

Your shuttle will pick up you and other fellow travelers from hotels in San Jose, and you will go on a 4.5-hour ride to your destination in Monteverde.

This duration includes a 20-minute stop approximately halfway through, so you can stretch, grab a snack or use the restrooms.

Note: You might not know this, but the SJO Airport is not in San Jose but in Alajuela, a province near San Jose. They called it SJO Airport instead of Alajuela Airport because San Jose was a much more well-known, larger city back when they built the airport, so they named it after San Jose.

Whether you are heading from San Jose or the SJO Airport to Monteverde, the San Jose to Monteverde shared shuttle will work for you. However, if coming directly from the SJO Airport, you should consider the departure times, the trip duration, and when your flight arrives.

For example, if you have a flight that arrives at the SJO Airport at 1 PM, then the 2 PM shared shuttle will not work for you because it will depart the airport around 2:40 PM. And you need between 2 to 3 hours to check out from the airport after your flight arrives.

If this is your situation, there are two things you can do. You can spend your first night near the airport, so you take our shared shuttle the day after.

Alternatively, you can hire a Private Shuttle (find details on this service in our category ´Transportation to Monteverde ) instead of our Shuttle, which gives you more flexibility to decide when you’d like to leave your departure place. In this example, you could have your private driver depart the SJO Airport around 3:30 PM, which is likely the time you’ll exit the airport (or wait for you in case of a potential delay).

This Jeep Boat Jeep service is quickly transfers for travelers between the Arenal and Monteverde areas by boating across Lake Arenal.
Our vehicles will come to the hotel where you are staying to pick you up.

If your hotel or Airbnb is not located in the downtown, please enter the name of the location to pick up and drop off ,and if there is an extra cost we will let you know and confirm the right pick up time after the reservation is completed

The first part of the journey is getting you from your hotel to Lake
Arenal. This will take approximately 30 minutes if you leave from La Fortuna, or about 1 hour 45 minutes from Monteverde.

After arriving at Lake Arenal, you will take a boat ride for approximately 45 minutes. If you are headed to Monteverde, you will arrive in the Río Chiquito area. If you are headed to La Fortuna, your boat will take you to La Represa area. No matter which direction you are headed, this is a great chance to enjoy a ride across the lake and a view of the volcano.

Once you have crossed the lake, our vehicles will be ready to take you to your destination hotel in La Fortuna or in Monteverde. Taking the shortcut across the lake is a great and faster way to travel between the beautiful towns of La Fortuna and Monteverde.

• Our 15 passengers vans are tailor made to carry no more than 9 travelers and to provide more space and leg room
• Our service is from hotel to hotel and reservations are needed to ride our buses.
• By law we cannot accept passengers with no reservation even if they are in a hotel where we do pick up and there are seatsavailable. Cancellations made less than 30 days before the service will be charged 100%.
• Cancellations can be made free of charge within 30 days prior to departure; after that term 100% of the rate will becharged.
• NO SHOWS will be charged 100% of the rate.
• The pick-up time may vary in about 15 minutes depending on road traffic.
• At the location of pick up the driver will wait a maximum of 10 minutes for a customer as this is a shared service.
• If passenger doesn’t show 10 minutes passed the pickup time they will be considered NO SHOWS and 100% of the rate willbe charged. In a Transfer In the waiting time is one hour after the flight lands.
• If for any reason including delay flights arrival the passenger is not in place and time confirmed. Interbus will be charged100% (No Show).
• Each passenger is allowed one carry-on and one item of luggage. If the passenger travels with an additional luggage pieceit is considered extra luggage and must be previously reserved. Each extra luggage will be charged according to theexisting rate.
• Carry-on items are the passenger’s responsibility during the whole trip and should remain with the passenger at all timesduring the trip.
• Interbus will not be held liable for loss or damage to carry-on items not properly supervised by the passenger. This includescarry-on items incorrectly placed inside the luggage compartment.
• We don’t transport surfboards bicycles or kayaks. All items other than luggage must be notified to Interbus and we doreserve the right of transportation.
• Children under 12 years of age pay 50% of the adult rate. Children between 6 months and 3 years of age must use a babycar seat or booster during the trip. These are provided free of charge and must be requested when making the reservation.
• All transfers include a 15 minute rest stop. This stop may be a connection point or may involve a change of vehicledepending on the route.
• No pets will be allowed on the vans (Except for guide dogs accompanied by their owners).
• Interbus cannot be held responsible for schedule changes in ferry services or for accidents and/or loss of luggage duringthe trip on the ferry.
• Interbus may change or cancel any service without reimbursement for reasons beyond its control such as: strikes weatherconditions war or local guerrillas public demonstrations natural disasters or acts of terrorism.
• In case of legal disputes between the client and Interbus both parties undertake to follow the guidelines of the Costa RicaRepublic legal jurisdiction.
• Fuel surcharge may be applied.
